Jay holds a Masters in Biotechnology and PhD in Biology. His masters research focused on molecular phytopathology and virulence of rice blast fungi, Magnaporthe oryzae, while his PhD focused on abiotic stress tolerance in plants. He worked on mitochondrial respiration in hypoxia and studied the nitric oxide cycle. He has spent the past 7 years dedicated to agriculture, from specialty crops to technologies and agchem.

Plant-Microbe Interactions Discovery Lead

Luis is a passionate microbial ecologist who has dedicated his career to studying plant microbe interactions with the aim of improving agricultural sustainability. He conducted his PhD on the evolutionary biology of corals in the Great Barrier Reef and worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Noble Research Institute before returning to Venezuela. At present, he leads the PMI team at Joyn Bio.
